Getting ready for the SPA

One man’s spa in another man’s nightmare

The spa is about creating a positive, nurturing, atmosphere with a singular focus on diet and exercise.

The contestants on the biggest loser have no distraction they are away from jobs, family and friends focusing only on health, diet and exercise.  The extreme weight lose participates start their journey with three months away from the pressures of their daily life at a boot-camp.

Most of us don't have the luxury of that kind to time away from job and family.  But we can take steps to create a nurturing, positive, focused atmosphere that will jump start our goal of living a fitter, stronger, healthier life.

During these next three weeks our goal is to focus solely on our health and fitness.

So in preparation for our spa segment begin to think about what you may want to include or exclude in your “Spa”.

What will assist you in staying focused on your healthy journey?
(for example: rewards like a massage or facial, new workout  clothes or piece of workout equipment you've been wanting).

What might hamper you from staying focused and motivated? (for example: some trigger foods that your family always eats or that friend who you seem to always drink too much with.)

Will you be staying home and creating a focused healthy environment or do you want to sequester yourself for a week or two   (For example: going to a hotel or a friends home or maybe taking a camping/hiking trip).

Here's a few tips to get you started:

1.  Remove any unhealthy food from the house.
2.   Make a list of all the things that will be motivating and self nurturing.
3. Make a list of all the things that could hamper your success and the solution/plan to remain focused.
4.   Set a physical challenge (for example a race, a hike, a long bike ride, or kayak trip).

Begin to "Just say NO!" To anything that pulls you away from your plan.  Because, you are at your SPA!!!
